Meet the experts: IPCC edition

4. Mai 2021, 19:00 - 20:00
This event aims to delve into the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) through an open question and answer session.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. Therewith, the IPCC determines the state of knowledge on climate change. We will welcome two panellists that will elaborate on their work and discuss with you:

  • Joeri Rogeli is the Director of Research and Lecturer in Climate Change and the Environment at the Grantham Institute at Imperial College London. He is currently a lead author for Working Group 1 and has worked on IPCC special reports including the SR15 report.
  • Dr Jolene Cook has been working in the climate change field for over 15 years as an academic researcher and a government science adviser. She is the UK’s Focal Point for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Head of International Climate Science in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. She is also Head of Climate Science in the UK’s COP26 Unit and its lead negotiator for science matters under the UN Framework Convention for Climate Change.
  • Antonethe Castaneda (youth representative) is an interdisciplinary professional from Guatemala (international relations, political science, public policy, renewable energy and sustainable development). She is involved with IPCC Working Group III and volunteers as a Chapter Scientist and Contributing Author of Chapter 17 Accelerating the transition in the context of sustainable development for the AR6 report.

After a very short introduction to the IPCC, attendees will have the chance to ask questions on any topic related to the IPCC and its work. You may be interested in hearing how the IPCC coordinates its work, what the different reports are, or how the IPCC’s work is used in international climate negotiations – come along and ask our panellists!

This meeting will be recorded, however, if you turn off your camera we guarantee that you won’t be visible in the recording.

Sign up to and we will send you the link to the Zoom-room shortly before the event!
